WEDNESDAY

FRIDAY

Borders: Keiki Summer Writers Club meets 11 a.m. in the Video Room of the Waikele bookstore. Keiki Story Time is 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays.

Children who watch the Olympic Games may write a short piece about the event they saw and present it at the Waikele bookstore's "Olympics Update Press Conference," Sundays beginning July 21. Call 676-6699.



SATURDAY

Super Sea Turtles: Children ages 6 to 8 explore Hawaii's marine life with stories, crafts and animal observation, 9 to 11 a.m. at Sea Life Park. Costs $10; includes park admission. Call 259-6476.

Craft and Fun Fair: Kaneohe Community Family Center offers Hawaiian games, lauhala weaving, food, kite-making and entertainment, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Ben Parker Elementary School courtyard. Free admission; some activities require fee. Call 235-7747.

ArtSpree '96: Collage artists provide hands-on lessons for children of all ages at the the Contemporary Museum's open house, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free day features artist demonstrations, dancing stilt-walkers and more. Shuttle provided from Roosevelt High School. Call 526-1322.

Fishing Pool: Children are invited to fish for prizes from the Kahala Bay pool, noon to 4 p.m. at Kahala Mall. Donation $1; benefits the Environmental Trust Fund.

Slugfest: Hawai'i Nature Center on Maui invites children 6 and older for a "magically slimy" time with garden-munchers, 1 to 3 p.m. Costs $5. Reserve at 244-6500, Maui.

Barnes & Noble: Sea Life Park presents the "Fishy Facts" 2 p.m. at the Kahala bookstore. The "Hunchback of Notre Dame" Topsy-Turvy Party begins at 3:30 p.m.



SUNDAY

A Rooting Good Time: Encounters with edible roots plant some respect for roots in children ages 6 to 8, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hawai'i Nature Center. Costs $5. Reserve at 955-0100.



CONTINUING

"SPORT" on display: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Sept. 2 at Bishop Museum. Admission is $7.95 general, $6.95 youths, seniors and military. Call 847-3511.

"Rock, Rap 'n Read!": Visit state libraries for details on summer programs for readers entering sixth grade through high school. Prizes include shopping sprees and gift certificates. Call the state Public Libraries Branch at 586-3620.
