McDonald's, zoo team up for
Saturday family events

McDonald's Restaurants is teaming up with the Honolulu Zoo for "McZoo Summer Fest," family events that run each Saturday for the rest of the summer.

The first is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when artist Apollo will organize a "Living Art Wall" in which he supervises children painting a mural, which will then be donated to the zoo. Arts and crafts will also be on display, and at 2 p.m. storytelling will occur courtesy Barnes & Noble.

Kamaaina admission to the zoo is $4; $1 for children 6 to 12, and free for children under 6. Information: 971-7174.



Halau will tell the story of
Aunty Maiki Aiu Lake

Halau Hula O Maiki's half-century anniversary will be celebrated by 'Ahahui Ka'iulani's "Aloha Kauai" hula concert, 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

Directed by Kumu Hula Coline Aiu, the halau's 300 students will tell the story of Aunty Maiki Aiu Lake and her halau through song and dance.

Admission is $50; proceeds will aid children with speech difficulties and help find a permanent home for the halau. Information: 955-0050.



A taste of Molokai comes to Oahu

Molokai bread, Molokai baskets, Molokai artists, Molokai music, Molokai quilts, Molokai hala goods. All of this and more will be available when the Friendly Isle comes to Ward Warehouse Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hula performances by two Molokai halau will take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Kanemitsu Bakery's famous "okole" bread goes on sale at 10; music and demonstrations run through the day.
