Moke Seal salutes ...

A Kailua Kona fourth grader is the Hawaii winner in the Weekly Reader's "What I Would Ask the Nominees" contest. Christine Abadilla, a student at Kahakai School, said she would ask the candidates for U.S. president, "What will you do about the homeless people who are cold out there without any place to sleep?"

A winner rom each state, the District of Columbia and from international entries each received $100. The national grand prize winner is Ron Akins, a sixth grader in Panama City, Fla., who asked, "If you were a kid, and you got to ask a Presidential nominee a question, what would it be and why?" He wins $1000.

The Weekly Reader invites students to send in five concerns they want the country's leaders to address. The lists must be signed and sent to: Petition, Weekly Reader Corporation, 245 Long Hill Road, P.O. Box 2791, Middletown, CT, 06457-9291.
