Last month, 166 single-family homes were sold, a 12.2 percent increase over the 148 sold in June of last year, the Honolulu Board of Realtors reported on Wednesday. Home sales recorded in May were 26.5 percent higher compared with the 1995 period.
Meanwhile, 204 condominium units sold in June, a 3.3 percent drop from 211 sold in the year-ago period, the group said.
The median sale price for single-family homes in June was $327,500, 4.8 percent lower than the June 1995 median of $344,000. The median price means half the homes sold for more and half for less.
The median price for condos last month was $181,500, compared with $182,000 in June of last year.
Looking at midyear totals, there was a 12.2 percent increase in sales of single-family homes in the first six months of this year, 834 sales compared with 743 in the same period one year ago.
Condominium sales declined 8.6 percent in volume for the same period, with 1,035 sales recorded for the six months through June 30 of this year compared with 1,132 in the first half of 1995.
