There's none better than the custom one offered by GeoCities http://www.geocities.com.
The firm, based in Beverly Hills, offers a multitude of free services in hopes that you will stop by their site and read the ads. The slickest service is the computer generated maps drawn to your specifications.
You can find things by address, sometimes by name and also by e-mail address.
You simply type in your address and it produces a map of the area with a red "X" representing the address that you chose.
Another function lets you locate any business or location in any city in the country. You can find a sports complex, a place to buy a car, or the location of the nearest bank in just about any town, of any size.
Within seconds, GeoCities produced maps to get you to: Carnegie Delicatessen on 854 7th Ave., in New York; Richard's Shopping Center, 434 8th St., Lanai City and the Barefoot Bakery and Cafe, on Loop 64, Dripping Springs, Texas.
You can still stump the address finder, but the mapping service is free and fast.
The services don't end there, you can post the map on your own Web page, which Geocities will host for you at no charge, or you can e-mail the map to friend looking for doughnuts in Dripping Springs.
