Ward Hoop Fest: Featuring basketball games, UH athletes and music by Rolando Sanchez and Salsa Hawaii, 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, Ward Warehouse. Benefits the UH athletics program.

Games continue at Hoop-It-Up, the 3 on 3 street basketball tour of the National Basketball Association, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on Auahi Street and in Ward Warehouse and Ward Centre. Free for spectators. Players 10 and older may enter. Manana Ridge hike: See native forest plants on a hike with Ken Suzuki, Saturday. Three miles, three hours. Costs $5. Call the Hawai'i Nature Center at 955-0100.

Taro Patch Party: Learn about the significance of taro and the different ways it was cultivated, then take part in a muddy experience, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Hawai'i Nature Center. Costs $5. Reserve at 955-0100.

Yokohama Beach clean-up: Citizen Action Project and the Patagonia Store invite snorkelers and beach walkers to help clean the beach at Kaena Point State Park, and enjoy a light brunch of pastries and fruit, 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Meet at the

lifeguard tower. Contributions to brunch appreciated. To help sponsor the Clean Reef Campaign, call 941-4854.
