The Future Primitive Ensemble returns to Honolulu performing "Macrotonalities" on an array of musical instruments at 7:30 p.m. today at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Performers include isle artist Steven Rosenthal, above, playing the giraffehorn.

Javapalooza '96: 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, Fast Zone, Fort Street Mall. Featuring Frogchild, El Toupe, One World Tribe, Indelible Soul, Magic Ants, Chilum and other bands. Interactive booths offer the opportunity to "Do Your Hair," "Know Your Future," "Shop Till You Drop" and so much more. Admission $7; proceeds go to HUGS, a nonprofit agency supporting families with a child in a life-threatening condition. Call 942-9525.

Sweet Honey rhythms: Aisha Kahlil, a 15-year member of the singing group Sweet Honey in the Rock, will lead workshops in creative vocal harmonics and vocal improvisation Saturday at UH-Manoa. Harmonics is from noon to 2 p.m.; improvisation 3 to 5 p.m. Two-hour workshops cost $30 each. Call 956-7221.

"Under the Full Moon": The Friends of Boettcher Estate present a summer concert with Darlene Ahuna, 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Kalama Beach Park. Bring a picnic supper, but no hibachi or alcohol, please. The house, built in 1936 and placed on the State Register of Historic

Places in 1992, will be open. Donation.

Honolulu Symphony: "Ho'olaulea Hawaiian Pops Extravaganza," 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Waikiki Shell. Tickets $10 to $40, available through the Connection and Blaisdell box office. Call 524-0815.
