Vineyard fence cut again
for dangerous shortcut
QUESTION: They are at it again. Someone again has cut a hole in the chain-link fence on the medial strip in the 500 block area of North Vineyard Boulevard. Can't anything be done by the state to stop this? It is a really dangerous situation.
ANSWER: For the seventh time this year, the state Department of Transportation will send workers to repair the medial fencing. Ross Smith, transportation spokesman, said the department has even erected reinforced bars to prevent vandals from cutting holes in the Vineyard Boulevard fence.
It appears that people would rather use this dangerous shortcut to the housing area than walk half a block to the pedestrian crosswalk that has a traffic light.
