The groups, who called on the Honolulu Police Department to stop abusing its authority in sex harassment cases against women, have filed a motion to appear in federal court as an amici curiae, or friend of the court, on behalf of a former policewoman.
And they are asking fellow police officers to step in when they see sexual harassment occurring in the workplace.
The groups claim HPD has been misusing taxpayer dollars by researching sexual history and gynecological records in the Clarissa A. Barta case.
Barta, who worked at the Airports Division from 1989 to 1992, filed suit in July 1994 claiming she was physically and sexually assaulted, subjected to pornographic material, asked for dates and subjected to vulgar comments.

But Ireland says he's worried the prosecution isn't proceeding quickly enough.
The statute of limitations for rape and kidnapping expires in 1-1/2 years.
Because this grand jury is investigative, it can only hear evidence. Another grand jury would have to decide whether to bring an indictment in the case.

Donald Dugal, an art lecturer at Manoa for 25 years, says lecturers have the same amount of work as professors yet are paid half as much.
The group is working with the UH Professional Assembly to include part-time lecturers in the union as part of a formal group representation.
