WEDNESDAY

Kalihi-Palama Library: "A Kalihi Gecko in King Arthur's Court," adventure tales for children ages 6 to 12, begins at 2:30 p.m. Story series continues Wednesdays through July 24. Register at 832-3466.

Champions For Jesus summer program: Children age 3 through the eighth grade go on trips to the zoo, beach and pool and participate in arts and crafts, singing, games and other activities, Wednesday through Aug. 4. Tuition $125. Call 677-3992.



THURSDAY

Stories with and without words: The Salt Lake-Moana-lua Library hosts a free performance with Nyla Ching-Fujii and Julie McBane, 10:30 a.m. McBane, a professional mime, uses sign language, music and masks. Call 831-6831.


FRIDAY

Snooze in the Zoo: Lie with the lions or be a dreamer with the lemurs at a Honolulu Zoo camp-out, 6 p.m. Participants enjoy folktales, songs and a tour with zookeepers. Costs $27 adults, $25 children. Call 971-7195.



SATURDAY

Kaimuki Library: Magic of Merlinski at 10:30 a.m. Call 733-8422.

Barnes & Noble: Learn about seals and sea lions with Eloise Lurito of Sea Life Park, 2 p.m., Kahala Mall store.



SUNDAY

Going Coconuts: Family for fun with this popular fruit, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hawai'i Nature Center. Husk coconuts, make palm frond toys and sample some treats. Costs $5. Reserve at 955-0100.



CONTINUING

"Discover the Magic of Reading": Visit state libraries for details on their summer reading programs for children. Sponsors offer incentives for readers who finish a book each week. Participating branches include Aina Haina (373-3888), Kaimuki (733-8422), Kalihi-Palama (832-3466) and Pearl City (453-6566).



LOOKING AHEAD

Junior Lifeguard Program: The city's five-day course on ocean and beach safety and rescue skills begins June 24. The program, for youth ages 13 to 17, includes ocean swimming, paddleboarding and the use of lifesaving craft. Donation $25.

Other sessions begin July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 and Aug. 5. Courses are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays at Kailua Beach Park (395-3994), Ala Moana Beach (924-3313 or 637-1650), Pokai Bay (695-8967) and Ehukai Beach Park (638-8297).

Kaimuki Library: Pre-school Storytime 10:30 a.m. June 25. Continues July 2, 11, 18 and 25 and Aug. 1. Call 733-8422.
