A guide to understanding
the Democrats

GOOD ol' Richard Port, chairman of Hawaii's mighty Democrats, was nice enough to drop off the Party's neatly typed, 11-page, 1996 Convention Platform Report. Unfortunately, he neglected to include a primer on deciphering the political jargon permeating the official document.

Nevah mind, I understood it. For those who didn't, here are some choice excerpts along with a layman's translation of what they really meant:

Maybe somebody will drop off a 1996 Convention Platform Report of Hawaii's Republican Party. If I'm lucky, the packet won't include a primer that deciphers the GOP's own brand of political jargon.

That would spoil all the fun.
