Chaiko oversees builder's special projects

Warren Chaiko, a 20-year veteran of the Hawaii construction industry, has taken over the Hawaii special projects division at Charles Pankow Builders Ltd.

"We're pursuing hotel renovation opportunities. There seems to be a lot of that work coming up," Chaiko said. Pankow recently completed work at the Ilikai Hotel and also at a new discount grocery outlet in the Waianae Mall.

Chaiko joined Pankow in January after 10 years as president of Chaiko and Heath Inc., a construction company. He also has worked at CJS Group Architects and at Hawaii Western Construction Inc.

Chaiko graduated from Punahou School and earned a bachelor's degree cum laude in building construction at the University of Washington.

Charles Pankow Builders, based in Altadena, Calif., is one of the nation's largest general contractors.
