Island Digest

Four 7 p.m. meetings on future use of Barbers Point will take place this month in the Campbell Building in Kapolei.

The Barbers Point Naval Air Station Redevelopment Commission will hear from airport use agencies Wednesday, community members June 18, state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands seeking Barbers Point land June 25, and city officials calling for a multifaceted sports complex there June 27. Next month, commissioners will review proposals to integrate recommendations into an overall plan. Public hearings on a plan will follow later in the year.

New hours are in effect this month at KaneoheÕs HoÔomaluhia Botanical Gardens. They are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. It will be closed Sundays. There are free guided tours Saturdays at 10 a.m. For more information about group tours, meeting room use, camping or gardening classes, call 233-7323.
