Dragon Boat races Saturday

The AT&T Hawaii Dragon Boat Festival, an event modeled after Hong Kong's famous dragon boat races, is scheduled for Saturday at Ala Moana Beach Park.

Sixty-seven teams have entered in the novice, open and celebrity divisions.

Races run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. followed by the postrace party at McCoy Pavilion.

Dragon boats are 40-foot single-hull canoes that seat 16 paddlers, a drummer, steersman and flag catcher.

The celebrity race will be between the Mayor's Office and the City Council at 1:40 p.m.

FOOTBALL OFFICIALS MEETING

He holds Cypress records for career points (1,397) and points in a single-season (652).

100 HOLES OF GOLF

Thirty golfers, including former UH football coach Bob Wagner, Larry Stubblefield and AT&T Hawaii executive Kan Sandefur, will take part in the 15th annual 100 Holes of Golf benefit at the Wailea Emerald Course on Maui on June 21, starting at 5:15 a.m.

They will raise money for Ka Lima O Maui, a private, nonprofit corporation that provides vocational training and employment opportunities for Valley Island disabled adults.

The tournament, hosted by the Wailea Resort, has received $460,000 in pledges by the golfers over the years.
