"We have many programs to attract business from Japan to Hawaii. We've visited over 20 cities in Japan in the last six or seven years," Serikawa said.
A symposium will be held with the chamber's sister unit, the Hiroshima Chamber of Commerce, on Friday at the Hawaii Prince Hotel. Three speakers from Japan and three from Hawaii will be featured.
Serikawa has been a member of the chamber for 24 years and was named its outstanding member in 1992.
After entry-level jobs as an accountant, Serikawa joined the audit staff at Grant Thornton in July 1960. He was managing partner of the Honolulu office from Aug. 1, 1983, to July 31, 1994.
He is a director of the Hawaii chapter of the American Red Cross and the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and a trustee of the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation.
Serikawa earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii.
