Coach Andrew Rowley reported that Tsunami goalie Antone Guiterrez got into a confrontation with a Firebird player who was offside by 15 yards. Despite Rowley's vehement objection, the score went against Hawaii.
Down 2-0 at the half, the Tsunami came on strong to tie it at 2-2 before the incident. Scoring came from Youssef Khairane, assisted by Andy Ryan and from Pearl City's Jerry Proctor, assisted by Tim Collins.
At Salem, Ore., on Saturday, the Tsunami lost 2-0 to the Cascade Surge, one of the strongest teams in the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues.
The Tsunami record is now 2-4, with the next game against the Yakima Reds at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Aloha Stadium.
During four years with the Baldwin team, Haleakala played every position except first base. She batted .320 last season, when the Bears finished in third place in the state tournament.
Tarson batted .423 last season at Sparks High School and also posted a 6-3 record as a pitcher with a 1.49 ERA. She was the school's female athlete of the year and three-time city bowling champion.
Hodges guided the Gauchos to a 15-9 conference record after starting the season with a 1-6 mark. Saddleback had a 30-15-1 record overall and qualified for postseason play for the fourth consecutive year. Hodges is 158-127-3 in seven seasons at Saddleback.
