State won't cut tree unless
safety's an issue
QUESTION: What can be done about a 20- to 30-foot tree on state property above my house in Pacific Palisades that is dropping debris into my yard? The tree is on the down slope of a hill. The only thing behind my house is a big valley.
ANSWER: You may have to take care of the debris yourself as part of the price of living next to a beautiful Hawaii forest.
Kokua Line gave your address and telephone number to the Conservation and Resources Enforcement Division of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources. The area by your house will be checked. If there is a safety problem with the tree, trimming or removal will be done. If the debris in your yard is only leaves carried by the wind, you will have to take care of those yourself.
