After a house was torn down on a private lot, a fence was built around that lot. The fence extends too far and encloses some of the state's parcel, including the large tree. When we call to get the tree trimmed, state workers come out and find the tree inside the fence and they think the tree is on private property. Nothing gets done. The tree has not been trimmed for more than 51/2 years.
I'm sending pictures of the mess and rubbish from the tree and the overgrown weeds. Can you use the tax map keys to prove the tree is on state property and somehow persuade them to remove the tree?
ANSWER Yes. Thanks to the photos and tax map keys you provided to Kokua Line, the tree is scheduled to be cut and uprooted. The state's property will be cleared of weeds and cleaned up, said Charles Lee, a state highways maintenance engineer.
The job should be finished next week.
