SATURDAY

Birds of a Feather: The Hawai'i Nature Center on Maui invites children 6 and older to delve into the mysteries of flight, test the strength of eggs and listen to avian music, 1 to 3 p.m. Costs $5. Call 244-6500, Maui.

Snooze in the Zoo: Lie with the lions or be a dreamer with the lemurs at a Honolulu Zoo camp-out, beginning 6 p.m. Participants enjoy folktales, songs and a tour with zookeepers. Costs $27 adults, $25 children. Call 971-7195. Repeats May 24.

Discoveries at the Shore: Adults and children ages 4 to 5 take a shoreline walk for a fun and safe exploration of marine life with Waikiki Aquarium staff, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Costs $14 for an adult-child pair; $6 additional person. Register by mail. Call 923-9741.

"Kaho'olawe" on display: Through images, artifacts and stories, visit the island recently returned to the people of Hawaii, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Sunday at Bishop Museum. Admission is $7.95 general, $6.95 youths, seniors and military. Call 847-3511.

Spend an evening star-gazing at the Observatory, 7:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Free. Register at 847-3511.

"Aloha Kilolani: 35 Years of Hawaiian Skies": Program reviews topics from the Planetarium's 35-year history, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily, and 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Costs $3.50. Call Bishop Museum at 847-8201.

Tropical plant nature walk: 10 a.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Free. Bring walking shoes, insect repellent and rain gear. Call 233-7323 for reservations.

Train rides: Enjoy a 90-minute ride through Ewa 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Sundays with the Hawaiian Railway Society, 91-1001 Renton Road. Passengers should arrive a half hour before departure time. Costs $8 general, $5 seniors and children. Call 681-5461 for reservations.

Honolulu Boy Choir: Boys ages 7 through 12 may audition for free membership this spring. The choir features traditional songs and dances of Hawaii. Call 596-SING (596-7464).
