Placido P. Ben of Kailua-Kona, formerly of Honolulu, died May 12 in Queen's Hospital.

Ben, 81, was born in Ilocos Sur, the Philippines. He is survived by sons Michael R., Gerald A. and Robert C.; daughter Cheryl A. Brady; brother Domingo P.; sisters Rodriga B. Cabreros and Concepcion Ben; and four grandchildren.

Glorie A. Cowland of Pearl City, an accounting clerk for Love's Bakery, died May 12 in Queen's Hospital.

Cowland, 35, was born in Honolulu. She is survived by husband Stephen P.; children Christopher P.A. and Andrew J.T.; mother Violet S. Mitsuya; brother Walton A. Yanagihara; and sisters Andrea M. Chow and Laureen E. Kukino.

Robert E. Freeman, a private educational consultant, died May 11 in Wilcox Hospital.

Freeman, 64, was born in Detroit. He is survived by wife Margery; daughters Barbara and Laura Freeman, and Carla Piedrahita; son Eric; sister Caryl; and three grandchildren.

Joseph Lebb of Aiea, a retired U.S. Customs supervisor, died May 4 in Pearl City.

Lebb, 80, a World War II veteran who received a Bronze Star, was born in Toronto.

Darleen H. ÒKamakaÓ Martin of Mountain View, Hawaii, an employee of Cafe 100 and Tyke's Laundromat, will be remembered in services May 18.

Martin, 57, died May 7 when a 5-pound rock crashed through her car windshield and hit her on the head.

Born on Oahu, she is survived by husband Edward; sons Edward Jr., Aukai and Shawn; daughter Rowena K.; mother Marcela Malapit; sisters Doreen Estrada and Lani Malapit; and four grandchildren.
