Bagasol, president of the school's Drugbuster Club, helps plan year-round drug-free activities for 700 students.
"Every month we have activities for students ... go to the movies, bowling, Ice Palace and end of the year banquet," Bagasol said. "It's really important because sometimes we forget to support students to be drug free.
"I know we do have some students (involved with drugs), but the time they are with us we know they are drug free and maybe that one time it might be the first time to lead them to a drug-free life."
To be a member of the club, students need to sign a pledge.
Dan Yahata, peer education counselor, said Bagasol sets a good example for other students.
"She is not afraid to take the bull by the horn," he said. "She makes people make good on what they are responsible for. She leads by example in her personal life.
"She has a way of getting people to come together and work in harmony," he said. "She gets the best results from those collaborations."
The daughter of Alfredo and Confesora Bagasol has a 3.4 grade average. She is the class vice president, chairwoman of the social committee and a member of the National Honor Society and the tennis team.
