Kurren assumes new role at BHP Hawaii

BHP Hawaii is combining its crude oil procurement and international sales under the leadership of Faye W. Kurren.

"If you look at transportation fuels, gasoline is an island business but planes and ships go all over the world so pricing and marketing must have a different focus," Kurren said.

She is responsible for the company's crude supply functions, which involve employees in Hawaii and Singapore. She also will oversee the sale of aviation fuel and marine fuel, fuel to electrical utilities, military contracts, and the company's operations in America Samoa.

Kurren joined the company in 1984 as a legal counsel. She was named vice president in 1995.

Kurren earned a bachelor's degree in sociology at Stanford University, a master's degree in sociology at the University of Chicago, and law degree at the University of Hawaii.
