"One of the main things we are doing is to try to get other engineering organizations to collaborate with us," said Matsumoto, who is vice president and chief operating officer at SSFM Engineers Inc. in Honolulu.
The council continues to develop new documents to improve business practices. These efforts have helped lower engineers' insurance premiums for errors and omissions in the last few years, he said.
Matsumoto has served as president of the Structural Engineers Risk Management Council, the Structural Engineers Association of Hawaii and the Consulting Engineers Council of Hawaii.
