Salem, Ore. - Olympic torch arrives at state Capitol.



MONDAY, May 6:

Washington - Congress in session all week.

Washington - Supreme Court in recess until May 13.

Trenton, N.J. - State Million Man March Committee plans march and rally at Statehouse.

New York - Black Enterprise magazine releases its 24th annual report on black business.

New York - Patti LuPone and Matthew Broderick announce the 1996 Tony Award nominations.

Tucson, Ariz. - 47th annual International Science Fair opens.

Santa Maria, Calif. - Trial set to begin in a civil suit by six former bodyguards for pop star Michael Jackson who allege they lost their jobs because of their cooperation with a grand jury investigating child molestation charges against Jackson.

Beverly Hills, Calif. - Jack Valenti holds news conference updating industry efforts to establish a television rating system.

Louisville, Ky. - Jefferson Circuit Court hearing on Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp.'s motion to question former employee Jeffrey Wigand.

Inez, Ky. - Trial scheduled for Bonnie Maynard, former lieutenant gubernatorial candidate charged with helping husband rape her son.



TUESDAY, May 7:

Presidential primaries in North Carolina, Indiana, District of Columbia.

Washington - President Clinton to spend day in New Jersey.

New York - Willem de Kooning's "Mailbox" and Jackson Pollock's "Something of the Past" are among works to be auctioned at Christie's Contemporary Art sale.

Boston - Eighth annual New England Environmental Expo.

Amherst - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen G.Breyer delivers keynote address at UMass.

Florence, Ariz. - Former Biosphere 2 crew member Abigail Alling to stand trial for felony criminal damage for allegedly harming the project.

Georgetown, Ky. - 10th anniversary celebration of Toyota Motor Manufacturing U.S.A. with new Toyota Motor Corp. president Hiroshi Okuda.

Morehead, Ky. - Habitat for Humanity to announce details of upcoming building project involving former President Jimmy Carter.



WEDNESDAY, May 8:

New York - Sotheby's two-day spring sale of contemporary art includes major works by Franz Kline, Arshile Gorky, Jasper Johns and Willem de Kooning.

New York - James Earl Jones gives free public reading of Abraham Lincoln's 1858 autograph manuscript prophesying the abolition of slavery - the manuscript is to be auctioned May 17 at Christie's.

Honolulu - Keck II telescope to be dedicated.



THURSDAY, May 9:

Washington - President Clinton hosts state dinner for Greek President Constantinos Stephanopolous.

Oklahoma City - National conference sponsored by the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to look at how children are coping with the Oklahoma City bombing and how to strengthen children and families in increasingly violent society. Through May 11.



FRIDAY, May 10:

Washington - President Clinton to spend day in Pennsylvania.

Richmond, Va. - Former GOP presidential candidate Steve Forbes is the honored guest of the state Republican Party's 1996 Commonwealth Gala.

Dallas - Sentencing for man convicted of threatening to kill President Clinton. He faces up to five years in prison.



SATURDAY, May 11:

Lynchburg, Va. - Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas speaks at Liberty University commencement.

Louisville, Ky. - Sen. Bob Dole speaks to the Kentucky Republican convention.
