Schenck moves to Shores at Waikoloa post

After 16 years in property management, Roger Schenck takes over as general manager of the Big Isle's Shores at Waikoloa, located near Waikoloa Beach Golf Club.

"We do have a three-diamond rating (from the American Automobile Association) and I'll be working with the (condominium) owners to maintain that and possibly elevate it to a four-diamond rating," Schenck said.

In 1990, he was named Aston Hotels & Resorts Manager of the Year. He serves on the Hawaii Hotel Association's hotel operations committee and is a member of the committee for Kapiolani Community College's food service and hospitality program.

After 35 years in the Army, Schenck retired as a colonel. He began his hotel management career in 1979 at the Hale Koa Hotel. He also worked at the Ala Moana Hotel before joining Aston Hotels & Resorts in June 1989. He most recently was general manager at the Kona Islander Inn.
