UH honors Brunton, Kuboyama

Tania Brunton and Clint Kuboyama have been named the 1996 Jack Bonham Award winners by the University of Hawaii.

Brunton was a member of the Big West Conference champion Wahine basketball team and Kuboyama played for the Rainbows football team.

The award is presented annually to the female and male senior athletes who best exemplify the ideals Bonham stood for - athletic excellence, academic achievement, public service, leadership and character.



WAHINE HOST UNLV: The University of Hawaii women's softball team will end its stay in the Big West Conference by hosting No. 10 Nevada-Las Vegas in a pair of doubleheaders this weekend at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The Wahine (33-24 overall, 12-15 conference) play the Lady Rebels (35-18, 18-10) in a 5 p.m. twin bill today and have two more games tomorrow starting at noon.



POLO SEASON BEGINS: The Honolulu Polo Club's season starts Sunday at its Waimanalo Field with festivities beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The gates open at noon. Admission is $3 per person or $10 per vehicle with four persons. Children under 10 are admitted free.

Matches are held every Sunday through Sept. 22. For further information, call 396-POLO.



WAIKELE ACTIVITIES: Runners, walkers, in-line skates, wheelchair users and non-athletes are invited to participate in the Waikele Center Sugar Cane Run & Roll Sunday at Waikele Center.

All proceeds benefit the Hawaii Centers for Independent Living. For information, call 676-5656.
