The Irvine, Calif., company said those being laid off will get a chance to fill future openings at the remaining 22 restaurants.
Closing are Sizzler Salt Lake, Sizzler Koko Marina, the Yum Yum Tree Westridge near Pearl Ridge, Jolly Roger Drive-In Dillingham, Jolly Roger Drive-In at Waialae and Monterey Bay Canners in Ward Centre.
Trans/Pacific, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection a month ago, said it wants to concentrate on keeping its strongest restaurants open. No more Hawaii closings are anticipated, the company said.
Final regulatory approval allowed a subsidiary, Bank of Hawaii International Inc., to increase its holding in Banque de Tahiti to 86 percent, from 38 percent, and its share of Banque de Nouvelle Caledonie to 75 percent, from 21 percent.
Banque de Tahiti has assets of about $800 million and Banque de Nouvelle Caledonie about $230 million.
The two-year agreement covers 126 registered nurses at the Ewa Beach hospital.
The contract provides pay of $25.54 an hour for nurses with at least two years' experience and $17.88 an hour for those with less than two years' experience.
Marian Marsh, director of collective bargaining for the Hawaii Nurses Association, said the average wage at Oahu's major hospitals is $25.40 for a nurse with two or more years of experience.
The nurses' association was certified as the collective bargaining agent for St. Francis-West nurses in May 1995. Contract negotiations began last October and were completed on April 18.
The rate was the highest since April 11, when rates averaged 8.05 percent.
On one-year adjustable rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 5.76 percent, up from 5.74 percent.
