Family living in Waianae again

Question: What ever happened to the family made homeless by fire at Christmastime in 1994 who were provided a home and other help by Jim Schuler, Schuler Homes president?

Answer:The family - Merrill Goers, Margaret Louise Bolton, and children Errol and Lincoln Smith, Sarah Bolton and Christy Rivera - found a place to live on the Waianae Coast.

Jim Schuler said they moved out a little more than a year ago from the house he made available to them in Waikele.

They came from the Waianae Coast and returned there, he added. "That's where their kids were in school and their friends and everything," Schuler said. "We got a nice letter from them, thanking us for making the house available," he said.

"We provided the house and the utilities and other people donated furniture." Fire destroyed their Waianae Coast home Dec. 21, 1994, and they lost everything. They were most appreciative when Schuler provided the three-bedroom Waikele home for their temporary use. Other community help they received included cash, canned goods, housewares, linens and Christmas gifts for the children.
