Police arrested three men and were looking for a fourth after they allegedly threatened and held residents at gunpoint at a Waipahu home early today.

Three residents - a woman and an elderly couple - were released unharmed from the home at 94-1520 Waipahu St. before 6 a.m. today.

Two other adults and a child were later found sleeping in the house. They were awakened by police bullhorns and apparently didn't know what had happened, said Capt. Ken Barker of the police Specialized Services Division.

A police helicopter, K-9 unit and patrol officers searched the neighborhood for the remaining suspect, who was wearing jeans and a purple shirt.

Officers were called to the home at 3:58 a.m. today by a report of a possible fight.

Four men entered the home uninvited, demanding money and threatening to harm the residents, police said. At least two men had weapons, police said.

The suspects were taken to the Pearl City police station, and police expected to hold them on suspicion of kidnapping, robbery, terroristic threatening, extortion and firearms offenses.

Police said they found a firearm belonging to one of the suspects in the house.

Waipahu Street between Kahuanui and Kahualena streets remained blocked off at mid-morning.

Robert Menor, a Waipahu Street resident, said an extended family lives in the one-story, white house with red trim. He said the family has lived in the quiet neighborhood for about 25 years.

Neighbors have complained about noise, and about people going in and out of the house and taking up parking in the area, Menor said.
