Here's how to report a case
of food poisoning

Question: Where and how do I report food poisoning? I got very sick and threw up after eating salad at a fast food restaurant.

Answer: Call 586-4586, the Epidemiology Branch of the state Department of Health and provide the details about what, where and when you ate and what happened. Epidemiology will coordinate an investigation and make referrals as needed.

If a problem happens at night or during nonworking hours at the Health Department, save and refrigerate any food you may have taken home in a doggie bag. Also, save a sample of your vomit or any fecal material, said Ellen Blomquist, spokeswoman for the health department.
