"My principal responsibility is to develop sales other than in Hawaii," Okuma said. "This involves setting up premium dealers, something like a franchise."
The dealers can be a new business or a conversion of a business to the Maui Divers line of about 1,500 items, mostly coral jewelry but also gold and pearls.
Okuma has worked five years for Maui Divers, the last two years as sales manager while expanding the wholesale sales accounts. He also had a role in opening Maui Divers dealerships in Guam and Saipan.
He also worked for two years as general manager at the Runners Route Ltd. sporting goods store in Honolulu.
Okuma earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii.
