Nuuanu Judd hike: Stream crossing and switchbacks, Saturday. Five miles, five hours, with Patty and Ken Kupchak. Costs $5. Call the Hawai`i Nature Center at 955-0100.

Kaukonahua Stream hike: Woodland jaunt and downhill trail lead to a cool pool, 9 a.m. Saturday. Three miles with Joe Bussen of the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club. Costs $2. Call 262-5506.

Lyon Arboretum hike: With Ray Baker, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Costs $9. Call 988-7378.

Opus 16 Fun Run: The Honolulu Symphony's four-mile run through Kahala begins and ends at Ft. Ruger Triangle Park on Diamond Head Road, 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Participants are encouraged to come in costume for the fund-raiser, which features entertainment by Country Dancers of Hawaii, Sounds of Aloha Barbershop Quartet and others. Prizes include trips to Hong Kong and Seoul and a package of concert tickets.

Entry fee of $25 includes a voucher for a Symphony concert. Entry forms available at Honolulu Symphony Offices, running stores, Aloha Petroleum Mini Marts and Compadres in Ward Centre. Or call 521-3081.

Tripler hike: Travel through stands of yellow guava to a ridge in Moanalua, 8 a.m. Sunday. Twelve miles with Arnold Fujioka of the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club. Costs $2. Call 531-8477.

Lauhala weaving: Free demonstration by Lindy of Kea`au, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Coconut Grove General Store, Kailua. Call 262-0020.

Lei Day Festival: Honolulu's 69th annual festival begins with a concert by the Royal Hawaiian Band and the investiture of the 1996 Lei Queen and her court, 11 a.m. Wednesday on the main stage at Ward Centre.

Ward Warehouse presents a steel guitar concert at 7 to 9 p.m., Ho`olaulea with floral and Hawaiiana craft exhibits and demonstrations 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a performance by the Ka`au Crater Boys at 6 p.m.

The Centre and Warehouse host activities related to the flower festival from Saturday and Sunday - including performances by Hui O Kamalei and Iwalani School of Dance at the Warehouse at noon and 2 p.m. Sunday, respectively. Call 591-8411.

Honolulu Zoo: Special admission $2 with a Yum Yum Tree Seniors Card 8 a.m. Wednesday.

See the zoo by moonlight 7 to 9 p.m. May 2 through 4. Admission $6 adults, $4 children. Call 971-7174.
