Chang keeps tabs on CPB's technology

David J. W. Chang, recently named a senior vice president at Central Pacific Bank, will be in charge of the bank's data processing operations, systems and programming.

"We have a strong niche in the community (with small to mid-level businesses and senior citizens)," Chang said. "We want to see how to use technology to retain that niche and increase our market base."

He replaces Gary Hakoda, who left the company. Chang came from Bank of Hawaii where he worked 13 years and was a vice president for systems programming. Part of that job was to provide assistance in analysis and decision making by the bank staff. He also worked five years for Adtech Co.

Chang earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at the University of Hawaii.
