Doucette wins at Chaminade

Don Doucette, Chaminade athletic director and men's basketball coach for the past three years, has resigned to accept the head basketball coaching job at Central Missouri State. His resignation is effective May 10.

Doucette, 44, compiled a 22-51 coaching record at Chaminade, including a 12-14 record in 1994-95 when he was named Pacific West Conference Coach of the Year. The Silverswords finished 4-22 last season, a year that was plagued with injuries, the dismissal of one player and the suspension of another.

Doucette restructured the athletic department and had it operating under budget for the first time in the school's history. Chaminade offers eight sports, four each for men and women.

No successor was named, but Chaminade president Sue Wesselkamper said a committee has been formed to begin the search for a new coach and athletic director.
