"The Mirror of the New": Three-day festival of contemporary music at the Academy Theater begins 7:30 p.m. Friday, with music by Elliott Carter and Wayne Peterson.

Sirius presents Franco Donatoni's "nidi," Francois Rose's "Lueur de nuit," Toshiro Mayuzumi's "Bunraku" and the Wuorinen "Percussion Duo" 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sirius presents Arian Schultz's "Pli," Tim Labor's "Agency" and other works 4 p.m. Sunday.

Kawana`ao, a University of Hawaii ensemble, presents works by graduate composers Renee Arakaki and Robert Wehrmann.

UH Symphony Orchestra: 8 p.m. Friday, Pearl City Cultural Center. Representatives from environmental organizations and city and state government will speak in support of Ka Iwi State Park, the subject of a 10-month land settlement process.
