Wahine split with Tigers in makeup doubleheader

FULLERTON, Calif.- The University of Hawaii split a Big West Conference women's softball twin bill with Pacific yesterday, winning the opener, 2-1, but dropping the second game, 9-8, in 10 innings.

In the first game, Julie Luft hit a solo home run in the first inning and Joyce Antonio singled in Joelynn Naki with the game-winning run in the second. Stephanie Wiese (10-7) allowed five hits to pick up the victory.

The two teams combined for 33 hits in the second game, with Antonio tying a Wahine record for most hits in a single game with five. Hawaii pitcher Jill Jameson gave up the game-winner in the top of the 10th inning.

The doubleheader was rescheduled after rain postponed the Feb. 27 contests at Stockton, Calif.
