Woman of the Year has history with group

After working 16 years for the American Business Women's Association, Na Kilohana-O-Wahine Chapter, Donna Miyashiro has been named the association's 1996 Woman of the Year.

"Our major mission statement is the advancement of women through education and professional development," Miyashiro said.

She is the chapter's newsletter and education chairman. Previously, she held positions as vice president, secretary and treasurer.

Miyashiro earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the travel industry management school at the University of Hawaii before beginning her professional career in 1973.

Miyashiro has been staff auditor at Bank of Hawaii for five years. She also has worked in accounting and credit management at the Hawaiian Regent Hotel, Ilikai Hotel and Plaza Club.
