SO you take a couple of weeks off for the first time in over two years and what do you do? Well, if you're Jimmy Borges you head for the mainland and spend the bulk of your time seeing old showbiz friends who usually do likewise when they return to the islands. He's back at the Alana's Cafe Picasso this weekend, after joining his daughter in California. They took in the "Palm Springs Follies" where three former isle residents are starring, all of whom told him to be sure and say hello. They are Kay Starr, Bill Dana and Tempest Storm, a trio not to be trifled with. Everyone in the cast has to be over 50, says Borges, something both he and I can appreciate. In Vegas he visited and partied with Pat Morita, Buddy Fo and wife Sammi, and ex-isle singer Anna Lea with musical conductor Mike Montano. Abraham Akaka's mini-oratoria with music arranged by Aaron Mahi for choral presentation. The style of the celebration will be a "baby luau" birthday and school kids are being urged to send a birthday card to the church for a special 175th anniversary year exhibit ...

Mueller also won a pair of Peles for Blockbuster Video in two categories for a TV spot called "Life is Hard." All in all, a B-B-Blockbuster night ...
BACK from his first ever trip to New York is Ray Bumatai, who was the guest of "Tony and Tina's Wedding" producer Joe Corcoran. He's directing a production of the play for Manoa Valley Theater in June. While in N.Y., Bumatai also took in the production of Edward Albee's "A Delicate Balance," since the same author's '94 Pulitzer Prize winning play, "Three Tall Women," opens at MVT tonight ...
