Developer named for Hickam housing work

Milwaukee-based Towne Realty Inc., a major developer in Hawaii, will rehabilitate 108 housing units at Hickam Air Force Base.

The $18 million contract with the Air Force was awarded to Towne's subsidiary, Landmark Construction Corp. The work includes demolition, utility installation, site work and rehabilitation.

Completion of the project is set for late 1997.

Sheraton Waikiki getting $20 million renovation

A $20 million, five-year renovation program is under way at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.

The hotel said the work will begin with improvements to suites. Corridors leading to guest rooms will be redecorated with a floral motif.

The next phase of the renovation plan will focus on the Ocean Terrace and Ciao restaurants, the Esprit Night Club and ballroom, and meeting room improvements.

In preparation for the 25th anniversary in June, the hotel adopted the honu, or Hawaiian sea turtle, as its mascot.

The new turtle logo will identify the hotel, and a Hawaiian green sea turtle sculpture will be installed in the lobby.
