Barry to coach Richmond

Bob Barry, head coach of the Iolani boys' soccer team, will become the assistant coach for the University of Richmond men's team for one year beginning in July.

Barry will coach the goalkeepers, recruit and serve in an administrative capacity at the Final Four, which Richmond is hosting for the second consecutive year.

Barry has coached the Iolani boys to four Interscholastic League of Honolulu titles and five state championships.



Three swimmers honored

Lars Brodin, Petter Lindh and Brian Renna, sophomore members of the University of Hawaii swimming and diving team, have been named to the Western Athletic Conference winter sport academic teams.

Brodin has a 3.93 grade-point average in physics; Lindh a 3.22 GPA in travel industry management, and Renna a 3.25 GPA in pre-education.



Schoers at QB Club

Carl Schoers, athletic director at Iolani and coach of the Raiders state championship wrestling team, will be a guest speaker at Monday's Honolulu Quarterback Club meeting at the Flamingo Chuckwagon.

Also speaking will be Michele Nagamine and Laurie Baker, head coaches of Kamehameha's state championship girls' soccer team, and Darren Johnson, Kailua High School's new head football coach.

The meeting starts at 11:30 a.m.



Armed Forces bodybuilding

The Armed Forces Hawaii Bodybuilding Championships will be held April 27 at 7 p.m. at Pearl Harbor's Sub Base Theater.
