Senior forward Justice Sueing received two honors, including the Art Woolaway Most Outstanding Player Award. Sueing, who finished 15th nationally in field goal percentage (.595), also was honored as the team's top rebounder.
The Community Service Award went to senior guard Tes Whitlock while the Captain's Award went to senior guard Anthony Harris. Harris led the Western Athletic Conference in scoring with a 22.4 ppg average - 17th best in the country - and ranks No. 2 on the UH single-season scoring average list, behind Gavin Smith's 23.4 ppg.
Harris edged Sueing as the team's top free throw shooter as this Rainbow team broke the 1976-77 mark for free throw shooting, hitting 75.1 percent from the line, sixth-best in the country. The 1995-96 squad also had the best field goal percentage, the 48.8 percent eclipsing the 48 percent from the 1967-68 season.
Harris, a first-team All-WAC selection, now holds the UH single-season scoring record with 626. Trevor Ruffin set the previous mark of 625 in 1993-94.
Sophomore guard Alika Smith was voted the top playmaker while junior center Seth Sundberg received the Most Inspirational Player Award.
Attending the banquet last night was former Rainbow standout guard Phil Lott, who played in Austria this past season. He expects to change clubs next year and may wind up in Spain.
Harris did not attend last night's banquet after withdrawing from school. He is in his home state of Connecticut trying to clear up a traffic violation from last summer.
