Party with the animals

The Honolulu Zoo gives new meaning to the term "party animal" by offering its facilities for birthday parties.

The $165 fee includes two hours of activities provided by zoo staffers and animals and tailored to the age of the child. The fee also includes cake, ice cream, juice, take-home crafts, animal encounters and admission for up to 20 people.

Parties are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 10 a.m and 1 p.m. Information: 971-7195.



Freebies at new store

Merchandise give-aways will mark the opening of "Elements by Liberty House" at Aloha Tower Marketplace April 13 and 14.

A traditional Hawaiian blessing for the boutique specialty store is set for 8:45 a.m. April 13, followed by an appearance by designer Carlos Falchi from 9 a.m. to noon.

Throughout the festivities there will be giveaways and drawings for Ray-Ban, Guess? and DKNY sunglasses; Esprit and Guess? handbags; Calvin Klein handbags; and Calvin Klein and Guess? clothing. Free Polaroid photos will be taken of customers who try on Guess? sunglasses.

Elements by Liberty House, on the street level front anchor position next to the concierge desk, will showcase an ever-changing collection of fun and current items .For more information, call Liberty House at 941-2345.



Books and burgers

McDonald's restaurants will be hosting a series of McLibrary Nights in celebration of National Library Week, April 14 to 20.

On McLibrary Night, 10 percent of all food and drink sales between 5 and 8 p.m. at McDonald's will be donated to the Hawaii State Public Library System.

Manoa Ohana Night

The 4th annual All-Manoa Ohana Night will take place April 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Manoa School cafetorium.

The event, sponsored by Malama O Manoa, will include a country store, free games and prizes for children, music and theatrical performances.

Proceeds will fund Malama O Manoa's community activities and a portion will be donated to the Manoa Japanese Language School. Information: 988-7456.



Food Drive to begin

The Hawaii Foodbank will conduct its 7th annual Food Drive April 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

People are asked to drop off food and monetary donations at: Restaurant Row, Koko Marina, Mililani, Pearl City, and Windward City shopping centers, at the Barbers Point NAS, Kaneohe Marine Corp base, Pearl Harbor NAS and Schofield Barracks.

The Foodbank hopes to raise $175,000 and 175,000 pounds of food. Suggested food donations included canned meats, dry or canned soups, beans, pasta, rice, cereals, crackers and dried fruit and vegetables. Information: 836-3600.
