The company can take the video information and compress it digitally to help identify an intruder.
"That way you can tell if it is a burglar or a cat," Jones said. "Last month, we introduced high resolution, compressed video (for better pictures)."
Jones brought the Sonitrol franchise to Hawaii in 1983. He now has 1,100 clients. He also is a director and past president of the Kalihi Business Association and leads the Moanalua Gardens Neighborhood Security Watch. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and economics at the University of Hawaii.
Jones and his wife, Pat, have two children: David, 25; and Lisa, 24.
