Academic honors for six Wahine

Three University of Hawaii players from the women's basketball team and three members of the Wahine swimming and diving team were named by the Big West Conference to its All-Academic teams yesterday.

Honored from the basketball team were juniors Tiffany Fujimoto, Kendis Leeburg and Michelle MacIntyre. Fujimoto led the way with a perfect 4.0 grade point average last semester in biology.

Senior Shannon Roberson and juniors Meghan Atwood and Summer Wofford were honored from the swimming and diving team.

To be eligible, athletes have to maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, participate in at least 50 percent of their team's competition and be at least a sophomore academically.



SEA WARRIORS NO. 3

Hawaii Pacific University is ranked No. 3 in the latest NAIA women's softball poll. The Sea Warriors (21-9) received 189 points.

Oklahoma City (26-4) is No. 1 and received 225 points. Next is Mobile (25-4) of Alabama with 202 points.



FULLER IN LEAD

Jack Fuller of Hanapepe, Kauai, is the current Hawaii leader in the 1996 Exide Nautilus Big Bass World Championship. Fuller's 5.19-pound largemouth bass was taken in Aipo Reservoir with a spinner bait.

If Fuller continues to hold the top spot through Aug. 15, he will qualify for the BBWC finals , Oct. 8-19, at Shangri-La Resort in northeastern Oklahoma.
