There are tips on how to join some of the demanding rides planned by the Hawaii Bicycling League, including a ride over the Pali, through Waimanalo and back over the Pali.
"Distance is 40 miles, expect hills. Allow four to five hours," he says on the Web page.
He also adds a list of places to stop and eat, such as: "Keneke's (Waimanalo): Ono plate lunch (and plate breakfast!) Pork Gisantes with peas and tomatoes, three eggs, two scoops rice, macaroni salad - it'll stop yer heart, but you'll die happy!"
Because he is also an attorney, Sherman found it easy to include both bike laws and bike legislation to give bikers a heads up on what to expect around the next legal curve.
The entire project is a quick click tour of biking in Hawaii, well thought out and a lot less sweaty than pumping over the Pali.
