The company has eight stores in Hawaii including the new MIX store at the Waikiki Shopping Plaza, which stocks the new street fashions.
Marui Imai Inc. is a department store chain located in major cities of Hokkaido in northern Japan. Tanaka heads the Hawaii and Guam/Saipan operations.
His job will be to add diversity to the Benetton image by adding new lines and giving each store a more individual personality.
He joined the company in 1978 as a sales clerk and later became chief of planning for the living division.
Tanka is a graduate of Ritsumeikan University in Japan where he studied industrial sociology.
