Hashimoto has 38 years of experience in insurance, and was president of Pacific Insurance Co. for the past six years. He also worked 21 years for First Insurance of Hawaii and 11 years for Industrial Insurance of Hawaii.
Hashimoto was chairman of the state's Workers Compensation Commission in the late 1970s, when the system was reviewed, and then served as a director on the steering committee of the Hawaii Workers Compensation Program in the 1980s.
