Builder Aczon gracious in accepting accolades

1995 was a good year for Manila-born Edmund C. Aczon. He was named builder of the year by the Building Industry Association of Hawaii and Filipino entrepreneur of the year by the Filipino Chamber of Commerce, and he received an award of excellence from the Small Business Administration.

"The year 1995 was really amazing for me. All those things were so unexpected," said Aczon, president of Aczon Construction Ltd., which is active in contracts with the military.

Aczon worked 13 years for Hawaiian Dredging & Construction Co. and started his own business in 1986.

He is active in the National Association of Home Builders, the Building Industry Association of Hawaii and the Mason Contractors Association of Hawaii.

Aczon and his wife, Michelle, reside in Mililani with their children: Christopher, 11; and Tristen, 7.
