Hospitality veteran joins Big Isle resort

After 15 years in the hospitality industry, Jennifer Fox has been named to the general manager's post at the Orchid at Mauna Lani on the Big Island.

The hotel, formerly the Ritz-Carlton Mauna Lani, is one of the most recent additions to the ITT Sheraton Corp. chain.

"We are going to do a lot of exciting things to increase our sense of place, our sense of Hawaiiana," Fox said. "We will be increasing some of the services and work in the gardens to open up views to the ocean."

Two years ago, Fox was named the ITT Sheraton's general manager of the year and in 1989 she was chosen the top director of sales and marketing. She started with Sheraton seven years ago and most recently served as general manager at the Sheraton Park Central Hotel in Dallas.

Fox earned a bachelor's degree in marketing at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
